So I haven't posted in a while and I feel bad about that. Most of my time lately has been taking up by knitting. I have been working on a couple of scarves. One for my boss and one for the dance teacher I play for. I am also working on a misc. one that I may try to sell. We'll see.
I recently started a photo a day challenge with a friend of mine. It has been so much fun. We have 4 more people doing it with us which is kind of cool. One person has missed a day and another hasn't started yet.
Work has been decent. I am really enjoying running the lab and doing the receiving. Also doing some custom jobs as well. We have a work party on Saturday, should be fun. Not sure what I'm going to take yet but it'll be good :)
I'll try and post some pictures of the scarves when I'm done.
We have gotten a quite the cold snap. Its gone from in the low positives to in the minus twenties with huge windchills. Craziness! As least it was cold for the High on Ice Festival. They were thinking the day before it started that it would have to be cancelled because it was too warm. Now its like -28.
I think a reason that I haven't written lately is that I've been in a funk. My brain... it's been taking little things and turning them into huge things. But yeah
Anyways, off to knit some more. Damn its cold!

On Animals and Feelings
I have heard so many people talk about animals and how they don't have feelings. I don't understand how they can think that. We have two cats and every day they do something that surprizes and amazes me.
Because of the busyness of the holiday season on both parts, two days ago was the first time we got to see our friend who was home on break from university. He was over while I was at work and then came over again last night so I cooked dinner, dessert, we watched Blues Brothers and played Mod Nation racers.
During the summer last year Trevor came over quite frequently. We hung out a bunch playing video games, taking pictures, watching movies. Loads of fun.
Max... Max is my little boy. He is a momma's boy through and through. Max has always had a general distrust for men. He 'likes' Dave. Actually he loves Dave but doesn't care to admit it. Other guys though, not his favourite people in the world.
Because Trevor had come over so much in the summer, Max grew to... tolerate him. Heck I think he even liked him a bit. He would even visit him a bit. Then Trevor went back to school.
So two days ago Trevor came back. As usual when we got home, well they, I wasn't there, Max didn't come downstairs. After awhile, Max came downstairs and froze when he saw Trevor. He could not believe what he was seeing. He sat and stared at him with this look of distrust for awhile and then went back upstairs. Not impressed.
Then last night when Trevor here, while Max did spend some time downstairs he always watched Trevor with more of a glare than anything. It was pretty funny to watch. When it came time to take Trevor home, I decided to take Max with me. Normally when you get into the car with Max, he uses the middle between the front seats to get to the back. Well, last night Trevor was sitting in the passenger seat. Max jumped over my shoulder to get to the back. Then proceeded to watch Trevor, well no, he glared at Trevor most of the ride.
When Max and I got back home, Dave and I talked about his behavior. He had also talked with a friend about it. We figure that he either was jealous and afraid of competition or he was upset with Trevor leaving. Now personally, I'm under the second opinion. I think he was pissed off at Trevor for being gone for so long.
This story just shows to me that cats do feel things! It is clear to me and Dave that Max was upset. We may not be entirely sure why but we could definitely tell he was.

It's so overt it's covert.
We saw the new Sherlock Holmes tonight. Its one of the few nights that I will go to the theatre. I hate how expensive the theatre has become. But that's not what I am writing about.
A Game of Shadows. I'm not sure about that title. It was a marvelous movie. As Dave just said, its really nice to have a period action movie franchise. There were a number of lines I quite enjoyed. Stephen Fry was hilarious and disturbing. And Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr. did an amazing job as always. Quite a believable team!
Today was the first day back to work at my 'regular' schedule. It was a good day, got stuff done and then it was off to dance for 2 1/2 hours. Fun to get back in the swing of things.
Tomorrow night we're having a friend over for dinner and shows. Always a good time. Then on Friday we're also having another friend over for dinner and fun. I can't believe that friend has been home for something like 3 weeks and we're just now seeing him the day before he goes.
Dave is having what I suspect is a gout attack. His big toe is swollen and red. He is in a lot of pain. I might recommend he go to the walk in tomorrow.
Wow, I just now realized that its 12:20. Guess I had better head to bed! G'night!

New Years and Other... Stuff
So its January 1, 2012. Here's to a great year. Hopefully its as good as the night leading up to it!
I worked 10 - 4 (ended up working til about 4:20) on New Year's Eve. Dave had two shows that day. A matinee and an evening show. Because of the matinee, I walked from work to the Cultural Centre (about 20 mins on a good day but because I was late 10). After meeting up with Dave we stopped by the local butcher shop and grabbed some mixed meats for the get together.
Headed home for a quick getting ready in which I put together a meat and cracker tray, a cheese and cracker tray, made sausage rolls, and grabbed some movies and crafting supplies.
Dave took me to our friends and was able to hang out for a bit. Freeman had made appetizer sticks and Kim had made Hummus and veggies. We started watching The Day After Tomorrow. We followed it with Volcano, Twister and ended with Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. Dave showed up around Twister. We had also brought M&M chinese appetizers and Jen made bacon stuffed mushrooms. So much food but so so good.
The great part of the night is that not a drop of alcohol was drunk by us. We had an amazing time and didn't drink! I think we're awesome for that.
Jen, Kim and I have made a plan to do a crafting thing once or twice a month where we do a new craft. This is what we have planned for our first craft. Gonna be fun!
Happy New Year everyone!
